How Can You Cope With Your Child Who Has Aspergers Syndrome
Social interactions are one of the major problems for a kid who has aspergers syndrome. In fact, a lot of parents in fact catch on eventually once they begin looking at their kid’s reaction to social situations. Usually a kid with Aspergers syndrome would have a tough time comprehending instructions from a person.
They are not sure, sometimes, who is talking in groups, or they can’t differentiate between different nonverbal (face) cues in individuals. Often forming relationships and friendships become more and more of a pain than everything else.
Normally a kid with Asperger syndrome might have a low need to share a discovery or experience. For instance, if a kid paints a picture which he or she really likes, normally they would keep it to themselves and not share it with anyone else like most children would do. Think of the last time your nephew or son or grandson drew a picture. You perhaps have fifteen on your fridge right now! Kids with Asperger syndrome may not be like this; rather they will hide it away or throw it away so that nobody else can see it. This makes sense when you think about it.
What do you do when your non-Asperger syndrome child gives you a picture they drew or painted? You praise them, you hug them, you squeal a little bit! Kids with Asperger syndrome are smart! They don’t like this. They do not like loud noises, being touched or being in the spotlight so to speak. The child could occasionally become obsessive with an object. For example they may be constantly amused by small toy trucks or small toy cars. They might become so obsessive with them that they’ll sit for hours and watch the way the wheels turn against the floor.
The child may try expressing how amazing he thinks it is, but it may seem that as soon as he opens his mouth to speak he gets stage fright. Take the car away, and he would likely be very upset. Though lots of kids are like this, it’s somehow different with him. It is, to a degree, an abnormal reaction!
Even a very minute change in the life-style of a child with aspergers could mean a major difference. To find out how to manage when you have a child with Aspergers syndrome visit, http://parentingaspergerscommunity.com/
